Welcome to the Ace Base Study Support Centre

 The Ace Base

About the Centre

The Ace Base Study Support Centre was opened in 2003 as part of the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) Playing for Success initiative. Playing for Success (PfS) invites Local Authorities and sports clubs to establish and develop Study Support Centres at sports grounds.

The Study Support Centre uses the sports environment as a motivational tool to raise pupil achievement in Key Stage two and three in the areas of literacy, numeracy and ICT. Ace Base is located at The City of Nottingham Tennis Centre.

 IT Room

Pupils from City of Nottingham schools attend the centre for a 3 hour study support session once a week for ten weeks. Pupils are rewarded for their efforts and hard work at the centre with free tennis coaching sessions provided by a qualified coach at the tennis centre.

At the end of the programme, pupils, their families and staff from their schools are invited to attend a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements during their time at Ace Base.

Ace Base is staffed by the Centre Manager who is an experienced teacher and a Teaching Assistant. We also work closely with volunteer study coaches from local colleges and universities. For more information on becoming a volunteer study coach please follow the link.
